The Columbus Chess Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose aim is to promote chess for K-12 students in central Ohio, especially for students in underserved areas. We host K-12 tournaments, offer a summer camp, hold free tournaments for beginners, and partner with schools and libraries around Franklin County to support and help establish scholastic chess programs and tournaments.
If you are a coach or parent who would like to start a chess club at your school or in your area, please send us a message in the ‘Contact Us’ page.
How Can You Help?
We need help to support our youth programs. All of our students attend our weekly chess program free of charge. Additionally, we regularly host scholastic chess tournaments where many students from low-income pay limited or no registration fees. Our operating funds for these programs come from generous supporters like you. Consider a tax-deductible donation today.
We accept donations of:
Money (Cash, check and money order)
Gently used chess equipment (chess boards, pieces, clocks and books, etc.)
Chess lessons as a guest speaker
Transportation for students
Laptop computers and chess software
We'll provide you with a donor letter and a huge thanks!
