Format: 5 Round Swiss System Individual/Team all sections. Students play all rounds, no elimination. Can request one 0.5-point bye before start of round 2.
Notation is required in all sections except Elementary Novice and students in grades K-3 in the U600 Reserve Section. In these sections, notation is not required though a player may lose the right to make claims requiring a score sheet. Unrated players may choose any appropriate section.
Â
Current USCF membership is required to play in the rated sections. Players in the rated sections must be registered with http://www.uschess.org before the tournament. Players in the rated sections are required to use a clock if either player provides one. In the non-rated section, players may use a clock if one player provides one and both players agree. In all sections, clocks will be used if games approach the time limit. Columbus Chess Academy will provide all sets. Students need to bring their own clocks and know how to set them. Sets and clocks will be available for purchase at site.
Â
Awards: Trophies to all players achieving a score of 3.5 points or higher. Trophies to top 3 teams in each section (top 4 scores count for team). Two or more players enrolled in the same school in the same section will be eligible for a team prize. Participation medals available to all students.
